Is the AI HIPAA compliant?
Agentifiq operates as a Business Associate and signs a BAA with every healthcare client. The AI does not store PHI in conversation logs beyond what is passed directly to your EHR integration. All data in transit uses TLS 1.3, and at-rest storage follows HIPAA-required encryption standards.
Can it access patient records during a call?
Yes — through our read-only EHR MCP adapter. The AI can confirm appointment details, check availability, and pull basic patient info to personalize the interaction. Write operations (booking, refill requests) go through your existing EHR workflows, so your staff retains full control.
What happens if a patient describes a medical emergency?
The AI is trained to immediately recognize emergency language and transfer the call to a live staff member or 911. Emergency escalation rules are configured per practice and cannot be overridden by the patient.
Can patients request prescription refills by phone?
Yes. The AI collects the patient name, date of birth, medication name, and pharmacy details, then routes the request to your EHR's refill workflow or sends an internal notification to your clinical staff for review. No prescriptions are generated automatically.
Will patients know they are talking to an AI?
Per our standard configuration, the AI identifies itself as a virtual assistant at the start of every call. Healthcare practices can customize the disclosure language to meet state-specific requirements. We never configure the AI to deny being an AI when sincerely asked.
How does it handle insurance questions?
